Hotels

Crown Hotel

West St, Blandford Forum DT11 7AJ, UK – 01258 456626

Really great hotel. The decor goes well with the area and the little touches are lovely. Everything is thought out well. The mattress was comfortable and according to the hotel book is the best mattress in the world. Apparently the White House have the same! Breakfast is extremely good. There was fruit, pastries, cereals and cooked food. Had the full English which was delicious. I would definitely recommend the Crown Hotel.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Crown. We were greeted warmly despite our late arrival and were encouraged to settle in and relax in the bar as we had driven for some time. The room was beautifully decorated, very stylish and comfortable with everything you can need. Lovely bathroom too! The breakfast was delicious- a wide range of buffet items and a great menu offering too. Special highlight was the honey on its comb. I'd really recommend staying here and look forward to coming back soon. Thank you!

Charlton Inn

Bournemouth Rd, Charlton Marshall, Blandford Forum DT11 9NH, UK – 01258 453160

Stayed here for two nights and I couldn't be happier with the service. Every member of staff was friendly and went above and beyond to ensure I enjoyed my stay. Breakfast was delicious with more than enough choice. The room was very clean and the beds were so comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Whilst working in the erea The Chorlton came up. Reasonably priced so booked it. Turned out that I had stayed here before some time ago. It is a lovely village pub with plenty going from ear wigging the conversations around me. A good selection of food from the specials board. The bedrooms are around the back of the pud in separate building which keeps the noise down from the main road. All in all a nice place to stay for the price.

Kings Arms Hotel

Whitecliff Mill St, Blandford Forum DT11 7BE, UK – 01258 455343

Received a warm welcome from the landlord of the Kings Arms pub which serves a fine selection of real ales in a comfortable front bar. On the night we were in attendance there was a fantastic jazz session in the rear bar fronted by local band leader and music maestro Dan Baker. This occurs once a month and makes for a great evening so check out the dates and have a ball - highly recommended!

Newly decorated and brightened up no end. A real pub with a proper friendly landlord determined to make a go of it. Live music ongoing and food in the pipeline..

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The Dolphin

42 East St, Blandford Forum DT11 7DR, UK – 01258 456813

Friendly little pub in this small market town. Recently changed management and undergone some refurbishment. Feels very welcoming and comfortable. Great place for a pint

The Dolphin is a nice little country pub. It is an unpretentious and friendly place that is popular with the locals who want a quiet pint but is also welcoming to visitors. You won't find boutique ales or specialist gins but you will get an honest pint and a smile. It's a little more lively at the weekends and they have occasionally had live music (although not that I've seen recently and it is really too small anyway). I've not eaten there but I've heard good things. Recommended.

The White Horse Inn

Shaston Rd, Stourpaine, Blandford Forum DT11 8TA, UK – 01258 453535

Love the relaxed atmosphere. Lovely wine and very romantic. Can't wait to go there again

I am delighted to say how much the good service and food was appreciated by my elderly friend and me, especially as we had not booked, our plans having been changed, leaving us in need of urgent rest and sustenance. My friend has a portable oxygen tank which had run out of charge and they found for us, and especially cleared, a table near a socket so she could plug in. We had been very concerned but were much relieved by this. I particularly appreciated their jolly forgiveness when I managed to break some crockery. Though continually apologising for the slow service, they took our order remarkably quickly and were attentive and obliging throughout. Their cheery attitudes even under pressure, cheered us up. The food arrived quickly, too. My friend has not had much appetite of late but she enjoyed the food so much that she ate most of it, which was a real bonus. In fact we both enjoyed the Hunter's Chicken. The veg was well cooked, varied and plenty, which isn't always the case, in my experience. I need GF food and the menu is marked up accordingly for different dietary needs so I didn't have to make awkward enquiries. We would have loved to try a dessert but were abolutely full. Thanks to all who looked after us. This might sound like an exaggeration but it was possibly the best service experience I have ever had in a restaurant.

The Stour Inn

5 Dorchester Hill, Blandford St Mary, Blandford Forum DT11 9LH, UK – 01258 451276

Quiet when first went in. Good choice of food on menu + specials. Unfortunately didn't have the special available at time of ordering. However both chose of lunch menu in the end. Nice to have freshly home cooked food. Maybe next time will be a bit busier.

Excellent Cream Tea. Great time. Very friendly. atmosphere. We will be back.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Bed & Breakfast Accommodation plus Guesthouses

Park Lodge Bungalow

Whitecliff Mill St, Blandford Forum DT11 7BN, UK – 01258 452834

Christine and Jim are excellent and inviting hosts. Room is cleaned daily and they cannot do enough for their patrons. Breakfast served daily is great as well. Towne center is a short 5 minute stroll. All in all this is a gem and highly recommended. Should I return to Blandford I will be in contact with Park Lodge for accommodation. Thank you Christine and Jim for your patronage.

Fantastic value for money. Owners were terrific and just couldn't do enough for me. Not ultra modern, but if you appreciate quality of service and a spotlessly clean and comfortable environment, this is the one for you.

Bryanston Cottage

Bryanston Street, Blandford Forum DT11 7AZ, UK – 01258 452746

We absolutely loved this place! It was like a secret heaven hidden away in the middle of Blandford Forum. Amazing, comfortable and cozy place with great people. Delicious home-made food. We stayed there in June with my mom, stepdad and boyfriend. I would definitely love to go there again. Thank you very much for the hospitality!

My partner and I stayed for 2 nights here for a weekend away. I had bought Hall and Woodhouse brewery tour for my partner for Christmas and chose to stay at Bryanston cottage instead of at The Crown hotel (which was lovely, we had dinner there one night and their bar was very nice). The main reason for choosing the cottage was because of the beautiful scenery and fantastic reviews. We weren't disappointed. John and Lexi were ever so welcoming. Lemon drizzle cake on arrival, free room upgrade (we stayed in the studio flat, toured the rest of the house which was gorgeous, but the studio flat with it's own entrance was ever so convenient) and let us leave the car in their car park after we had checked out so we could explore the town before leaving Blandford. WE WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN! Beautiful part of England, and with such welcoming hosts (I didn't even mention the breakfast, full continental PLUS a full English breakfast! Truly scrummy) we definately recommend.

St Martin's House

Whitecliff Mill St, Blandford Forum DT11 7BP, UK – 01258 451245

Caroline and Steve are terrific hosts. She is a great cook providing home made preserves at breakfast as well as poached plums for example. She can do unusual items for breakfast such as spiced beans :) The house has character and reams of old books. The rooms are comfy with their own, but across the landing, bathrooms. Steve recommends Ice Age 1, 2 and 3!

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Campsites and Caravan Parks

Inside Park

The Inside Park, Down House Estate, Blandford St Mary, Blandford Forum DT11 9AD, UK – 01258 453719

Stayed here for the first time last week and was very impressed with everything. Toilets & showers very clean, the campsite is very spacious and clean. We have moved our caravan to the storage on site from a caravan club site and were not sure what it would be like but we needn't have worried because it was wonderful. The weather let us down a bit in the week but the weekend made up for it. The children's playground is well stocked for both young and slightly older children. Looking forward to going again later in the year'

My family come here loads cause we love it! The play area is amazing and the toilets and showers are always clean! And I love the fact that there's loads of things to discover in the park and the woods! Love it!
